EPC’s Social Justice & Concerns committee is charged with establishing ministries in support of “the widow, the orphan” and the “least of these brothers of mine”. We endeavor to find ministries and opportunities to serve that are closely aligned with our Lord’s mandate to serve those in the deepest need. This year we are involved with the following ministries:
- Project Understanding provides housing, food and assistance to the homeless of our community
- Project Understanding's Tutoring Center here at EPC where loving and caring volunteers help elementary school children with math, reading, and writing
- ACTION (Area Christians Taking Initiative On Needs) Ministries such as
- Action Day (June 2nd!)
- Community Christmas Shoppe
- Young Life - ministry to high school students
- Tender Life - helping caring for pregnant women of our community who are without family support, including assistance with child birth, education and support.
- Annual Film Festival – A three day event that will highlight the injustice of human trafficking. Ways to get involved in seeking change will be showcased!
- TRAC – Teen Reach Adventure Camp. Two three day camps (one for boys and one for girls) focus on providing a Christ centered outdoor experience for foster kids.
- Katrina Relief – A 5 day trip to Biloxi, Mississippi to re-build the homes of local residents who lost everything in Katrina. We work through Project Teamwork.
- Daybreak Prison Ministry – A ministry that supports Chaplain Pam Scott. Her ministry supports walking with women exiting the prison system.
- Earth Stewardship Day – The third Sunday of April, the sermon focus will be on stewardship of the earth. We are focusing on finding ways to educate the congregation to be involved in taking care of God’s creation.
Micah 6:8 He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.
James 1:27 Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.
