Proposed By-Law Changes

The session is calling a Congregational Meeting on Sunday, May 19th immediately after the second service. The purpose of the meeting is to vote on the proposed by-law changes and changing the loan terms on Pastor Matt's mortgage from the church. The Session is proposing the new by-laws as a result the major changes in the Book of Order made by the PC(USA) that greatly reduced the laws governing churches allowing individual church bodies to have more freedom in choosing how they would operate. The existing by-laws, the proposed by-laws and an explanation of the changes are available for you to review prior to our meeting. If you want a printed copy, please check at the church entrance or the office. If you have questions, please contact Pastor Matt Hoyt, Sue Hockenmaier or Al Stones prior to the meeting. Childcare can be available but ONLY by RSVP to Bekki Woertink by May 14th.

Santa Barbara Presbytery Gracious Dismissal Policy/Guidelines

As you read in Pastor Matt's article in the March Orchard Life, we are awaiting contact from the Presbytery team who will lead us through the process of exploring dismissal from the PC(USA). This process in still being developed and is new for both the Presbytery and our church. At this point, the Gracious Dismissal Policy will serve as guidelines since there are still modifications to come and details to be worked out. Remember this is a working document and will be changed by the Presbytery over time. Here is the most recent version of the Santa Barbara Presbytery Gracious Dismissal Policy/Guideline. We encourage you to read it so you will become familiar with the steps we will be taking. If you need a printed copy, please contact the church office.
